Highest percentage and highest number of votes in the history of the Irish Presidency
The results are in; Catherine Connolly won the Irish Presidential election of 2025, gathering 914,143 - or 63% - of the vote.
There is a lot of talk of spoiled ballots (including from me) - but - this win is historically comprehensive.
Catherine Connolly has garnered the highest percentage of votes in the history of the State - see here her vote share in historical perspective (thank you to Women for Election for gathering these statistics).

More than the Michael D. re-election, more than Mary Robinson - more than de Valera himself.
And for those who will argue that this is only because of the poor opposition, or indeed the spoiled votes; she also received - by a wide margin - the highest absolute number of votes cast for any Presidential candidate in the history of the state.

Now that is a mandate. Congratulation Uachtarán na hÉireann!
